The Dewey Lectures: Morel Mania 2014

Date: May 13th, 2014

Join us at Crooked Lake Library on Tuesday, May 13th at 1:00 p.m. for Morel Mania 2014!

"If you've never tasted a morel, they are truly a delicacy," said Anoka County Board Vice Chair Scott Schulte. "The experience of hunting them is just as memorable as eating them!"

Morel mushrooms are one of the most prized finds for mushroom hunters.  They are also the Minnesota state mushroom.  May is the perfect time to start your morel hunt.  Our presenter from the Minnesota Mycological Society will discuss ways to prepare for morel season and give tips on foraging.  He will also share information about identifying other edible mushrooms.

“Morel mushroom hunting is a rite of spring for many people,” said Library Board President Bob Thistle, “Learn how to find this Minnesota treasure.”

Crooked Lake Library is located at 1140 Crooked Lake Blvd, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. This program is free and open to the public, but seating may be limited.  For more information about this and other library programs, call 763-712-2322 or visit your local Anoka County Library.
