Raising a Reader with Your Library

Storytime at Anoka County Libraries acquaints young children with books and improves listening and language skills. Parents and librarians help nurture a child’s love of books and reading and can help prepare the child for school.


Registration starts: June 4th

Storytimes Begin:Tuesday June 19th
Storytimes End: Thursday August 2nd


Baby Storytime Ages 0 – 24 months
Songs, fingerplays, movement activities and stories for baby and parent/caregiver.
Registration required.


Toddler Storytime Ages 2 and 3 years
Stories, songs, fingerplays and movement activities planned for the toddler and parent/caregiver. Siblings are welcome to attend.
No registration required but seating is limited.


Family Storytime Planned for Families
Stories, songs and movement actvities planned for children of all ages and parent/caregiver.
No registration required but seating is limited.

Before Storytime…
  • Talk with your child about your visit to the library & storytime.
  • Plan to arrive a few minutes early.
  • Please take your child to the restroom.
After Storytime…
  • Take time to choose books with your child.
  • Ask the Librarian for reading suggestions.
  • Make a special time for reading at home.
  • Repeat storytime songs & rhymes at home.

Family Storytime
Children & parents share books, rhymes and movement activities at these drop-in storytimes.

Toddler Storytime
2 & 3 year olds. A child & adult caregiver activity. Fun with books, sounds and movement activities.

Preschool Storytime
4 to 6 year olds. An independent, group experience for the child. Preschoolers enjoy books and movement and build listening & language skills.

Baby Storytime
Ages 0 - 24 months. Stories, fingerplays, songs and movement for baby and parent.
